Fiske Set For Renovations

The Fiske Cinema is now under the control of the West Carroll Parish Chamber of Commerce after being leased by HarBet Promotions since 1989 and ran as a gospel concert venue.

The New Fiske Cinema opened on April 17, 1950 in Oak Grove, La. just down main street from the orignal Fiske Cinema as a state of the art movie house earning top honors from many organizations in the motion picture industry for the equipment and style of the building.

The two level theatre was operated continously as a first-run movie house until 1987 when the late Donald Fiske closed the theatre.

1988 as Mr. Fiske health began to fail him he donated to the West Carroll Chamber of Commerce where it was leased to HarBet for maintance and operation.

Through many state grants the facility is in good shape but a movement is now under way in West Carroll Parish to restore the theatre to her once proud grander and begin showing movies again.

If you would like to help in the preservation of this historic theatre contact Adam Holland at coachhollant@hotmail.com for more information.
