Youth Architecture Workshops - Level I

June 16-19, 2008
LEVEL I: A great experience for students entering grade 7 – 12. Participants learn about architectural and design history through innovative instruction, touring and hands-on projects. The Level I workshop instructs students in basic architectural terms, demonstrating how to draw plans and elevations, and leads them in designing for a “client.” Students will design their own versions of a Usonian house, creating scaled floor plans and then translating them into three-dimensional models.

Date: June 16-19
Time: 8:30 - 11:30 am
Location: Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, 951 Chicago Avenue, Oak Park
Fee: $125 for Preservation Trust members/$150 for non-members. Space is limited. Advance reservations are required.

Youth Architecture Workshops - Level II

June 23-27, 2008
LEVEL II: Continuing the experience for students entering grade 7 – 12. Participants learn about architectural and design history through innovative instruction, touring and hands-on projects. In Level II, students will design a workspace addition for an existing Usonian model home, draw the scaled floorplan and build the model. Students will also visit two prominent architectural firms in downtown Chicago and compare these spaces to Wright’s own studio. The Level I Workshop is a prerequisite for this course.

Date: June 23-27
Time: 8:30 to 11:30 am
Location: Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, 951 Chicago Avenue, Oak Park
Fee: $150 for Preservation Trust members/$175 for non-members. Space is limited. Advance reservations are required.
