Historic Preservation Blog from PreservationDirectory.com -
Contributed By: The Walters Art Museum
Email The Author: jobs@thewalters.org
Website: http://thewalters.org/about/jobs/jobdetails.aspx?jd=174

The Walters Art Museum is offering a rare opportunity to a recent graduate in paintings conservation to develop research and treatment skills on artworks from two distinct time periods and cultures: Italian Renaissance panels and nineteenth century Thai paintings. The fellowship is funded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, administered by the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation. The Fellow will undertake an in-depth examination of a large 15th century panel and treatment of a second panel from the same series of spallieri. Additionally, the fellow will examine and treat selected nineteenth century Thai paintings, helping to develop a protocol to stabilize flaking paint. The Fellow will be an important part of a team working on both projects along with the Walters painting conservators. The position is for one year, full-time, beginning September 3rd 2013 and includes an attractive benefits package.  Candidates should be graduates of a recognized conservation training program in the USA or Canada or a US citizen from a graduate-level conservation program abroad.

Please submit a cover letter stating your interest in the project, a résumé and two references to jobs@thewalters.org by May 24th, 2013.

An EOE/A drug, alcohol, drug and smoke free environment.
