ELLSWORTH & PORTLAND— The Maine Community Foundation in partnership with the Maine Historic Preservation Commission’s New Century Grant Program, is seeking proposals to its Belvedere Historic Preservation Fund.

Grant awards up to $25,000 are available for the preservation and reuse of historic buildings in rural areas that serve as civic, cultural, or economic hubs for communities.

Last year, the Belvedere Historic Preservation Fund awarded $120,900 to 12 organizations. Grants ranged in size from $5,000 to $15,000. Among the awardees were the Association culturelle et historique du Mont-Carmel in Lille, for continuing interior repair and painting of Musée culterel du Mont-Carmel; and Friends of the Church on the Hill in Addison, for restoration of windows, shutters, and exterior doors.

The next application deadline is September 15, 2013. For more information, guidelines, and an application, please visit www.mainecf.org

A statewide organization with offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people. For more information, visit www.mainecf.org or call 1-877-700-6800.
