2014 Arizona Historic Preservation Conference Seeks Presenters and Sessions
Call for presenters and sessions is now open for the 12th Annual Arizona Historic Preservation Conference which will take place at the Esplendor Resort at Rio Rico, June 11-13, 2014, emphasizing the theme “Economic Engines of
Preservation.”

The Arizona State Historic Preservation Office, the Arizona Preservation Foundation, and the City of Nogales invite you to join them at the 12th Annual Arizona Historic Preservation Conference. This year's conference, "Economic Engines of Preservation" is being held in Nogales & Rio Rico, June 11th – June 13th, 2014. The goal of the conference is to bring together preservationists from around the state to exchange ideas and success stories, to share perspectives and solutions to preservation issues, and to foster cooperation between the diverse Arizona preservation communities.

The 2014 Arizona Historic Preservation Conference will feature 2 days of 50-minute concurrent sessions, and two or three keynote / featured speaker presentations. Session focus areas include:

  • Urban and Rural Planning
  • Economic Development and HP
  • Heritage Tourism
  • Archaeology
  • The Business of Archaeology
  • Public Lands Management
  • Main Street
  • Tribal Preservation
  • The Business of Historic Preservation
  • Adaptive Reuse
  • The Business Case for Preservation
  • Financing Historic Preservation
Presenters and session and panel discussion leaders are encouraged to submit a proposal for presentations relating to historic preservation’s best practices, project management successes, preservation action plans, economic development, sustainability, archaeological implications and issues, new preservation funding sources, newly approved preservation techniques, forward-thinking programs, and so forth as they relate to the theme of “Economic Engines of Preservation.”

Deadline to submit a presentation proposal is December 5, 2013. No presentation proposals will be accepted by email, fax, or mail; on-line submission only.

The annual Arizona Historic Preservation Conference is developed and orchestrated jointly by Arizona State Parks, the (AZ) State Historic Preservation Office, the National Park Service, the Arizona Preservation Foundation, the Arizona Historical Society, and the Arizona Archaeological Council.  The host city partner for 2014 is Rio Rico / Nogales, Arizona.  The conference is underwritten by Arizona State Parks, the State Historic Preservation Office, the National Park Service, the City of Nogales, the Esplendor Resort at Rio Rico, the Arizona Lottery, Logan Simpson Design, Inc., and HistoricStreetscapes to date.
