Ottawa, ON, May 19, 2015 – Applications are now being accepted for the Herb Stovel Scholarship Fund. The Herb Stovel Scholarship Fund is administered by the National Trust for Canada in cooperation with a professional advisory committee.
The Herb Stovel Scholarship Fund awards funds annually to one or more Canadian students or young professionals (age 20-35) pursuing post-secondary or graduate studies in built heritage conservation, or working in the field of built heritage conservation. With assistance from the Fund, Herb Stovel Scholars will deepen their capacity in heritage conservation through special projects, experiential learning or conference attendance.
The Fund will provide two types of support:
- Project bursaries up to $2,500 for candidates who propose special projects, results-oriented travel and participation at conferences and events that continue Herb’s passion for community innovation and/or international dialogue in conservation theory and practice. Applications requesting support that is focused only on general tuition expenses will not be considered.
- Heritage Canada The National Trust Conference bursaries to cover the cost of travel, conference accommodation and registration (approximate value of $1,000) for candidates to attend the National Trust’s annual conference (Calgary, AB, Oct. 22-24, 2015; Hamilton, ON, Oct 20-22, 2016).
- The deadline for applications is midnight EDT May 29, 2015 for project bursaries or National Trust conference attendance in 2015 or 2016. The Terms & Conditions and information on the application process are on our website.
