Help The Neon Museum Repaint the Desert Rose Motel Sign

We need your help to conserve and protect the Desert Rose Motel sign! The Desert Rose Motel sign is one of the largest and most striking motel signs in our collection. We need approximately $50,000 to resurface and repaint the cabinet and reattach the elegant rose trellises to the billboard-style sign. We’ve already raised $10,000 but it’s not enough.

Neon signage is very fragile. Neon tubing breaks, paint flakes and fades, metal bends and the message gets lost. Signs that have distinct shapes or features often escape obscurity because they are easily recognizable. However, when a large rectangular cabinet like that of the Desert Rose loses its paint and tubing, the entire sign disappears. In order to preserve the history and design of the Desert Rose sign, we have to repaint it and treat the sign so it remains stable for future visitors to the museum to appreciate its beauty and significance.
