Ottawa, Ont., October 23, 2015 – The National Trust for Canada is pleased to announce the launch of THIS PLACE MATTERS – Canada’s first crowdfunding site dedicated to heritage places.
Thanks to our Founding Partner, the RBC Foundation, we are offering a special opportunity to boost contributions made to the site and help project teams reach their crowdfunding goals. We will match 50 cents on the dollar, for the first $25,000 contributed through the site.
“THIS PLACE MATTERS is an exciting tool that will help organizations embrace the power of social media, reach new audiences and raise funds,” said Executive Director Natalie Bull. “We hope to empower organizations to save and renew their heritage places, while attracting a new generation of heritage philanthropists.”
THIS PLACE MATTERS is designed with heritage places in mind and offers resources to help project teams plan and executive an effective crowdfunding campaign.
THIS PLACE MATTERS was introduced today to a national audience of heritage professionals and practitioners from across the country at the National Trust for Canada’s National Heritage Conference – Heritage Energized – in Calgary, Alberta.
The national crowdfunding site follows close on the heels of a successful regional project, THIS LIGHTHOUSE MATTERS, which directed close to $300,000 to lighthouses in Nova Scotia this past summer.
To explore projects posted to the site, make a contribution or submit a project, Canadians are invited to visit www.thisplacematters.ca.
