Ottawa, May 30, 2016 – The National Trust for Canada is pleased to acknowledge $161,234 in new funding from the Government of Canada. With this funding, the National Trust will build Regeneration Works, a comprehensive knowledge hub that will help organizations across the country increase the financial sustainability of their heritage places.

Over the next two years, Regeneration Works will offer online and in-person training, coaching and networking opportunities in the areas of fundraising and revenue generation. The program will guide participants through an individualized learning path, directing them to the most relevant tools, strategies and training for their historic place or situation. Along the way, participants will also gain an appreciation for new trends, models and tools that offer powerful storytelling and growth opportunities.

“The Government of Canada is proud to support the National Trust for Canada and its partners by contributing to the Regeneration Works project. Heritage institutions play an important role in preserving our history and identity; this initiative will benefit many heritage organizations by helping them improve their business practices,” said the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage. “The Government of Canada is committed to helping our cultural and heritage sector reflect our unique identity as Canadians and increase the social and economic vitality of our communities.”

“We are grateful for this important seed funding from the Strategic Initiatives Component of the Canada Cultural Investment Fund of the Department of Canadian Heritage,” said Natalie Bull, Executive Director of the National Trust. “We know that finding funding and achieving financial sustainability are real challenges facing heritage organizations and historic places. Regeneration Works will draw on the most innovative success stories from across the country and connect Canadian organizations with creative tools and bold new strategies.”

The National Trust is proud to be working with provincial partners including Heritage B.C., Heritage Saskatchewan, Community Heritage Ontario and the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario.

Stay tuned for further information about Regeneration Works, including upcoming webinars and workshops and the launch of the Regeneration Works website.
