KEESEVILLE (May 14, 2018) -- Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH), the historic preservation organization for the region, has opened nominations for its 2018 Preservation Awards.  For over 20 years, these annual awards have recognized sensitive restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse of historic structures throughout the region, as well as individuals who have promoted historic preservation and community revitalization consistent with AARCH's mission.  The awards honor the preservation work of organizations and individuals who make the Adirondack region a better place to live, work, and visit.

Projects of all sizes and scopes are eligible for consideration. The deadline for nominations is July 1, 2018. A celebration of the 2018 award winners will be on November 2, 2018, at a luncheon at Valcour Brewing Company, a 2017 Preservation Awards recipient for the sensitive restoration and rehabilitation of Plattsburgh's Old Stone Barracks.

In addition to Valcour Brewing Company, last year's Preservation Awards recipients included Wiawaka Center for Women (Lake George) for their restoration of the 1903 Wakonda Lodge;  Deer's Head Inn (Elizabethtown) for the restoration and rehabilitation of their 1808 building; Friends of Stillwater Fire Tower (Webb) for the restoration of the Stillwater Fire Tower; Round Lake Camp (Woodgate), for the long term stewardship of the historic Masonic Youth Camp; Richard Longstreth for his extraordinary work to create and publish A Guide to Architecture in the Adirondacks; and Michael Frenette, for his skilled and sensitive restoration work at Camp Santanoni over nearly twenty years.

To nominate a project or for more information regarding the awards or nominations process, please contact Mary Cirbus, AARCH Preservation Services Director, at 518-834-9328 or mary@aarch.org. A list of past winners and projects is available on our website at www.aarch.org

Adirondack Architectural Heritage is the nonprofit historic preservation organization for New York State's Adirondack region.  AARCH was formed in 1990 with a mission to promote better public understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of the Adirondacks' unique and diverse architectural heritage.
