KEESEVILLE -- Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH), the region's private, nonprofit historic preservation organization, will present its annual Preservation Awards on Monday, September 9 to six recipients that exemplify extraordinary stewardship of individual historic properties and ongoing preservation work in communities across the Adirondacks.

"Each year, we are amazed by the number of high quality preservation projects there are in the region to honor and this year is no exception," said AARCH Executive Director Steven Engelhart. "All are excellent projects that represent the sensitive, careful, hard work of preservationists throughout the Adirondacks."

The recipients of the 2019 AARCH Preservation Awards are:

Laura Finley, for the restoration of the boathouse on 14 Mile Island on Lake George (Town of Bolton, Warren County)  and for the Finley family's long-term stewardship of the island's historic buildings.

Jeffrey Robillard for the restoration and stewardship of Northbrook Lodge on Osgood Pond (Town of Brighton, Franklin County).

Dillon Klepetar for the restoration of the historic barn at Echo Farm (Town of Essex, Essex County).

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and the Clinton County Historical Association for their collaborative efforts to restore the Bluff Point Lighthouse on Valcour Island in Lake Champlain (Town of Peru, Clinton County)

Darren and Lisa Tracy, for the rescue and rehabilitation of the Dr. Ferguson office building (City of Glens Falls, Warren County).

Town of Waddington, for the restoration of the Waddington Town Hall as a community center (Town of Waddington, St. Lawrence County).

The awards luncheon will be held on Monday, September 9 beginning at 11:30 am at The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake. The Hedges is a quintessential Adirondack resort, originally built by Hiram Duryea in 1893, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and was the recipient of a 2018 AARCH Preservation Award. The event is generously sponsored by Bill and Susan Harral, Adirondack Classic Designs, and Merrill L. Thomas, Inc.

Please join us for an inspiring afternoon as we honor these recipients. Tickets are $50 per person and include awards presentation, a buffet lunch and a tour of The Hedges. Reservations are required and may be made by calling AARCH at (518) 834-9328; by email at info@aarch.org; or by visiting our website.

Adirondack Architectural Heritage is the private nonprofit, historic preservation organization for the Adirondack Park with an educational mission to promote better public understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of the region's architecture and communities.
