Georgia State Students Help Jumpstart the Future for Atlanta Preservation Center
Historic Preservation Blog from PreservationDirectory.com - preservation, tour, Atlanta, restoration, historic
Contributed By: Steven Ferenczy

Atlanta, GA, July 14, 2008 – Georgia State Marketing students have been given a final task to complete before they graduate. The task at hand is acting as a complete marketing consultant for an established organization. The organization (Atlanta Preservation Center) wants to freshen up their ideas and start marketing to the largely untapped younger audience. The situation, ideas, and results are all real and could be implemented by the Atlanta Preservation Center.

The Atlanta Preservation Center is a not-for-profit organization, which promotes “Atlanta's architecturally, historically and culturally significant buildings, neighborhoods and landscapes through education and advocacy.” What may be unknown is the fact that this organization offers guided walking tours throughout the Atlanta metro area that focus on historically significant structures. They feature tours in places such as the Fabulous Fox Theatre, Historic Downtown, Frederick Law Olmsted’s Druid Hills (Where Al Capone’s family once lived), Inman Park, Historic Midtown, and many more amazing destinations. You can check all of the destinations out online at www.preserveatlanta.com.

The Georgia State students are in charge of developing new ideas to tap into this major resource of younger participants and bringing the company to a new level. The students have  many new techniques to try, from using Facebook and MySpace Networking to the possibility of new technology such as IPod walking tours. The sky is the limit for the students as they look to start the future for this organization. One marketing student states, “We are ready for the challenge and excited to help implement the new technologies and ideas that we all have. We are going to take this organization which harps on saving the past and show them what the future looks like.”

The future looks bright for both the upcoming graduates from Georgia State and the Atlanta Preservation Center. Help spread the word and take a tour with the Atlanta Preservation Center.
