Applications for the 2021 PNY grant cycle are due Monday, April 12. All interested applicants must submit a pre-application to receive a full application form.

Launched in 1993, Preserve New York makes grants for historic structure reports, building condition reports, cultural landscape reports, and cultural resource surveys.

Applicants must be a unit of local government or a nonprofit group with tax-exempt status. State agencies and religious institutions are not eligible to apply. The program provides support up to 80% of the project cost. Applicants must provide 20% of the total project cost as a cash match. Grants are likely to range between $3,000 and $10,000.

Technical Services staff completed a report in 2016 titled Preserve New York: A Catalyst for Community Preservation. This report charts the impact of the Preserve New York grant program from 2005-2012 and assesses preservation activities that occurred after these reports were completed.
