Job Summary:
The following job tasks are assigned to this position: Assist preservation partners and the public with state and federal grant programs related to historic preservation, coordinate State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) grant activities including federal Historic Preservation Fund application and reporting and certified local government pass through grants, develop and administer educational outreach programs in the areas of public history and public archaeology, assist with the planning and execution of the annual SHPO statewide conference, identify opportunities for SHPO engagement and partnerships with the public and other entities.
Job Duties:
- Provide program support for SHPO management of the Preservation Focus of the Arizona Heritage Fund - Historic Preservation Grant.
- Assist potential applicants with questions about the application process, coordinate with Parks Grant staff on successful grant awarding, management and reporting.
- Manage SHPO federal grant application and reporting, to maintain SHPO's grant standing with NPS.
- Assist with the planning and execution of the annual SHPO statewide conference to achieve growth in attendance, diversity in programming and maintain high level of attendee satisfaction.
- Assist with the development, planning and execution of webinars and educational events on a variety of historic preservation topics to maximize partnerships and achieve public engagement in historic preservation
- Work with preservation partners to identify and apply for state, federal and non for profit historic preservation grants to maximize preservation funding and achieve the objectives of the Arizona State Preservation Plan.
- Engage the public in awareness of SHPO and partner programs and activities through digital communications, including newsletter, social media and website content.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
- Basic knowledge of historic preservation laws, principles, guidelines, standards, techniques and professional best practices.
- Basic knowledge of state and federal grant application and reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of grant management software.
- Knowledge of Google Suite or similar software platform, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation programs.
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms and content creation to drive public engagement
Skill in:
- Superior writing skills necessary to produce technically accurate and persuasive grant application documents.
- Organizational and Project management skills necessary to track status of multiple grants, including deadlines for key deliverables and reporting.
- Experience planning and coordinating virtual and in person events and conferences.
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with partners and the public to provide guidance on grant opportunities and funding solutions
Ability to:
- Ability to work independently in a remote work environment
- Ability to use communication technology to collaborate with internal and external customers to achieve project deadlines.
- Ability to formulate detailed budgets for grant applications.
- Position requires travel throughout the state of Arizona and may require overnight stays.
- Position requires valid Driver's license.
Selective Preference(s):
Bachelor's degree in American history, historic preservation, planning, public administration or related field plus 4 years of experience. Master's degree in American history, historic preservation, planning, public administration or related field plus 2 years of experience. Experience in grant and technical writing, special event planning and education/interpretive programming is strongly preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment.

Retirement:
