Join the education team in telling the stories of Los Angeles and the people who inhabit it as Student & Family Program Coordinator for the Los Angeles Conservancy. This is a full-time that reports to the Director of Education.

With the Director of Education, the Student & Family Program Coordinator works to create, implement, coordinate, and grow all educational programs for student groups, young people, families, and educators. As the lead instructor on all youth programs, the Student & Family Program Coordinator is an experienced teacher and educator able to incorporate multi-modal and inquiry-based learning strategies into their instruction.

The Student & Family Program Coordinator is responsible for training and assessing the Conservancy staff and volunteers who work with young people and for overseeing the quality of all student-related programming.

In addition, the Student & Family Program Coordinator is a skilled relationship builder, able to create partnerships and initiate programs with schools and other organizations that serve their K-12 communities and expand the reach of the L.A. Conservancy’s work with young people throughout L.A. County.

This position works a Monday through Friday work week and occasional nights and weekends. This person must be comfortable working individually and collaboratively, in an office setting as well as on the city streets of Los Angeles, and at off-site locations, such as schools and community organizations. At least a third of the employee’s time is spent on discretionary, independent decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities
Assists with creating programs and curriculum, including in-person and virtual educational classes and resources, that meet the goals of the Los Angeles Conservancy’s Student and Family Initiative
Primary tour guide for Student Walking Tours and lead instructor on all youth and family-based programs,  including The Heritage Project
Trains and assesses Conservancy staff and volunteers on student and family programs
Grows the Student and Family Programs each year by increasing the number of participants served
Writes promotional content for the L.A. Conservancy website and drafts/edits monthly e-mail communications to students and educators
Builds relationships with schools and other organizations to collaborate on programs that serve their K-12 communities while advancing the Conservancy’s work across L.A. County
Manages student bookings and payments; assists with processing payments and administering student tours and events. Tracks expenses and income
Communicates regularly with teachers and educators. Serves on the L.A. Conservancy Student Program Committee
Creates assessment and evaluation tools for effectively measuring program goals and achieved outcomes
Leads education events and presentations for external partnerships and internal programs

Other Responsibilities
Participates in the creation, development, and staffing of Special Tours, Last Remaining Seats, and other core Conservancy education programs
Writes content and creates PowerPoints/visual aids on behalf of the education department
Acts as Los Angeles Conservancy liaison during community meetings, events, committees, and partner programs
Provides staff support when needed for non-education events
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Familiarity with and ability to incorporate California Common Core State Standards into lessons and curriculum
Two or more years’ experience as a teacher, teaching artist or instructor in a school, museum, or nonprofit setting working on a regular basis with k-12 students, or equivalent professional experience
Demonstrated ability to write and implement lesson plans and curriculum for k-12 students
Knowledge and experience partnering with schools and other organizations to offer education programs and professional development opportunities
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously
Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable public speaking

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of and passion for architecture, history, Los Angeles neighborhoods and culture or historic preservation helpful
Bilingual in Spanish or other language highly desirable
Familiarity with using Microsoft Office
Salesforce or Asana experience a plus

Benefits
Excellent benefits including health, dental, and life insurance; 401(k) retirement plan with 5% match (after one year of continuous employment); paid holidays and vacation. Salary range is between $60,000- $70,000 and is commensurate with experience.
