The Staten Island Ferry, a History Presentation at the National Lighthouse Museum, Staten Island NY

The Staten Island Ferry, A History with Patricia Salmon
Sunday, June 22, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

For more than FOUR hundred years ferries have operated on the waterways that surround Staten Island. Native Americans ran primitive ferries as did the seventeenth century founders of the island. Many modern day courses actually followed their original routes. With the establishment of the Staten Island Ferry run from Saint George to Whitehall in Manhattan in 1886, ferry service changed drastically. Discover the world’s most famous floating icon!

Patricia Salmon is a professional historian and naturalist. She writes books that are filled with verified fascinating facts and commentary that appeal to all interested in community history. Ms. Salmon knows what her audience wants and for this reason she searches for history’s hidden secrets.
