Architectural Ancestry: A Presentation on Urban House History

November 4, 2025 |
House histories peek into the “genealogy” of a physical structure, the site and the neighborhood.
Like any problem, we start with a research question focused on what are our goals. Goals may include identifying the original owner; determining when the house or road was built; or discovering neighborhood contextual facts. We start with what we know.
This presentation, lead by Jill Morelli, looks at the history of a house or property through the eyes of an architect/genealogist. It’s about the people and the place.
King County is rich in records, but most of what we will discuss is applicable wherever you live. Part case study of her own Queen Anne home and neighborhood and part exploration of various repositories, we will look at the broad view of the people and the place to learn more about how and where to conduct our own investigation.
This program is virtual!
