The Friends of Longue Vue (FLV) Present the 2018 Essence of Style Design Symposium

November 1-2, 2018

The Friends of Longue Vue (FLV) present the 2018 Essence of Style Design Symposium featuring Master Florist, Lewis Miller. Each year our symposia inspire and engage locals interested in interior, landscape, and floral design. The Symposium raises funds to support the preservation of Longue Vue as one of New Orleans’ historic gems, and its role as a cultural center, which provides dynamic programming for the New Orleans community. The 2018 Symposium is chaired by Louis Aubert and Marian Gibbs.

Lewis Miller studied horticulture and landscape design in Seattle Washington before moving to New York and working for a top floral boutique. In March of 2002, he created LMD New York City (Lewis Miller Design) to showcase his love for detail and ability to wow by combining luxurious and simple materials in a single arrangement.

Called “The Banksy of Floral Design” by The New Yorker and the “Florist Bandit” by VOGUE, Miller and his team install striking floral arrangements across New York City. These “Flower Flashes” decorate trashcans, bloom on benches, beautify construction sites, and take over statues. These larger-than-life arrangements will stop you in your tracks. They are magical. Being in the business of flowers, Miller’s goal is a simple one. He hopes these installations capture beauty and joy and share it with the city-dwellers and tourists of New York City.

Beyond a shared love of florals and design, this kind of community impact is what drew Longue Vue to Miller for our 2018 Symposium. We are thrilled to have him in New Orleans and cannot wait to see what beauty and joy he is going to bring our way.

The Symposium begins with a designer reception at the beautiful home of Larry and Marian Gibbs on Thursday November the 1st from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Guests will enjoy catered food and cocktails, and conversation with Lewis Miller and members of the Friends of Longue Vue Steering Committee. Tickets are $125.00.

The luncheon and lecture will take place on Friday November 2nd at the Audubon Tea Room from 10:00am to 1:00pm. A delightful sip and shop featuring The Shop at Longue Vue will welcome guests as they arrive. Tickets are $140.00.
