Gadgets Galore! Transforming the American Household
May 30 - September 15, 2019 |
From alarm clocks to coffeemakers, cell phones to cameras, gadgets are an integral part of daily life. But that wasn't always the case. Los Altos History
Museum presents "Gadgets Galore! Transforming the American Household," an exhibit that looks at how we came to have so many gadgets in our lives and where they originated, on display at the J. Gilbert Smith House May 30-Sept 15.
"Industrialization allowed items to be produced faster, in larger quantities, made over longer hours, and distributed greater distances," said Heather Farquhar, Los Altos History Museum's deputy director. "What came before the cell phone? Or the vacuum cleaner? Explore the exhibit on a scavenger hunt, and discover ancestors of some of today’s most coveted gadgets!"
An opening reception will be held on Sunday, June 2, from 2-4pm.
