American Revolutionary War Symposium

Columbia, S.C., - The American Revolution established The United States of America as a nation like no other. The causes, the personalities, and the relationships impact our governance, perceptions, and attitudes still today. This 1st Annual American Revolutionary War Symposium will focus on the American Revolution in South Carolina, a major, if not pivotal, site of war activities. While directed to those with an existing interest the Revolution it will capture the interest of both the novice and the expert. On Saturday, October 5, Key Note Speaker John Buchanan, author of The Road to Charleston: Nathanael Greene and the American Revolution , Dr. Andrew J. O’Shaughnessy, Vice President of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation at Monticello, along with John Beakes, Mrs. Peggy Picket, Dr. Jim Piecuch, and John Allison will participate in a day long program providing insight on South Carolina and the American Revolution.
Registration is $50 on or prior to September 20, registration after September 20 is $65, and Student Registration is $25 (a valid school ID is required). The 1st Annual American Revolutionary War Symposium is presented by the SC Archives & History Foundation and the SC Department of Archives and History with the support of South Carolina Humanities. The Symposium will be held at the SC Archives & History Center, 8301 Parklane Road, Columbia, SC 29223.
