The Warren County Historical Society will be hosting the
program, “Missing in the Pennsylvania Wilds,” by author James T. Baumgratz at
the Warren County Courthouse, 204 Fourth Avenue, Warren, PA on Wednesday,
February 1, 2023, at 6:00 PM. Over the years people have gone missing in the
Pennsylvania Wilds and many have never been seen again. Join the author as he
explores the cases of men, women, and children who have disappeared without a
trace.
In today’s world, over 600,000
people go missing each year in the United States. Most of these people are
quickly located either dead or alive, but some remain missing for years or lost
forever. In Pennsylvania alone, over four hundred open cases presently exist
for missing people. Most of the open cases in Pennsylvania are recent
disappearances. The author discovered that there is no master list for people
who have gone missing before 1980. Through painstaking research, Mr. Baumgratz has
spent many hours researching old newspaper accounts and coroner’s reports to
make an accurate account of the missing and unidentified people from the
Pennsylvania Wilds.
Mr. Baumgratz currently resides
in St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania. He has been fascinated with true crime since his
early teens and has devoted his writings to historic murder/mysteries that took
place in the not so distant past. Future works will include several counties in
Pennsylvania and New York.
