When the restoration of Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest was launched in 1989, the villa and ornamental landscape looked rather different than they do today. With the recent completion of the interior restoration, the Poplar Forest villa looks as Jefferson intended. Join Poplar Forest’s restoration supervisor, Austin Englund, on an hour-long guided tour and learn about the groundbreaking architectural restoration process developed to save the historic structure. Tickets for the Restoration Behind-the-Scenes Tours are $30 per person in advance, $35 at the door. Admission also includes self-guided exploration of the exhibitions in the lower level of the house, the Wing of Offices, the Quarter Site and the ornamental grounds.
