National Summit on Historic Preservation Easements

April 29 - May 1, 2024
National Summit on Historic Preservation Easements

Presented in partnership by Heritage Ohio, Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation, Historic Warehouse District Development Corp, and Downtown Cleveland Alliance, the Summit will focus on numerous aspects of preservation easements. In addition to tours of easement projects, networking, and idea sharing, topics will include an introduction to how this critical preservation tool works, insurance documentation, responding to planned work, documenting maintenance/repair requirements, a high-level look at handling IRS audits and many other best practice areas surrounding an easement program. Hear from easement experts from across the country, including American Easements Foundation, Historic Columbia, Colorado Historical Foundation, Heritage Ohio, Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation, Historic Warehouse District Development Corp, Downtown Cleveland Alliance, and more.

The Summit will be held in downtown Cleveland, a showcase for how preservation has supported a bustling economy and revitalized scores of historic structures. The first day of the Summit will be held in the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade, which was recently named one of the best hotel lobbies in the world by Architectural Digest magazine. The Hyatt Regency, an eased building, is also the preferred conference hotel. The second day will be just down the road in the Superior Arts District—Cleveland’s former garment manufacturing neighborhood with a slew of historic warehouses being preserved and adaptively reused.

We have a limited block of rooms at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Cleveland Arcade at a special rate of $199 per night. Guests may call the Hyatt reservations directly at 1 (800) 233-1234 and ask for the “2024 Historic Easement Conference” rate, or register by using the link below.  The cutoff date is April 1st.  Guests will need to book prior to midnight on March 31st in order to receive the group rate.
