Property History
This house is an extraordinary gem of history and elegance. The house was built in 1761 by Ephriam Haines, a prominent Quaker landowner and farmer in Moorestown. He built the house for his bride and at that time it was located at the end of developed Moorestown. Beyond the house was vast acreage of farmland owned by Haines.

Much of the original detail of the house remains with beautiful tiger eye borders in the hardwood floors throughout including the third floor. On the third floor there is also an original wide board pine floor. Details abound inside including extensive wainscoating, china rail in dining room, built in china cabinet, window seat and a mysterious curved wall.

In 1828, ornate gutter work was added as well additional square footage to the back of the house. Inside at that time the double parlor was opened into one and also the same was done to the two bedrooms directly above. Many of the original doors have been restored and sport 6 panels on top and two on bottom.
Finally, the house is rumored to have been a Brittish hospital at the time of the American Revolution since Moorestown was a Tory stronghold. George Washington did not sleep here; however, some other colonial grandee of the time might have.
