The Boston Preservation Alliance’s 38th annual Preservation Achievement Awards recognized two individuals and six projects across Boston for excellence in historic preservation.

Developer Steven Samuels received the Susan Park President’s Award for Excellence for showing that preservation and development are partners, not competitors: his work in the Fenway respects Boston’s architectural heritage while letting neighborhoods evolve, making preservation economically viable and part of great urban development. Margaret “Peggy” Ings received the Codman Award for Lifetime Achievement for more than four decades revitalizing Boston’s Theater District. Founder of the Charlestown Working Theater and former coordinator of the Midtown Cultural/Theater District at the Boston Redevelopment Authority, she helped guide Emerson College’s move from the Back Bay to the Theater District, championing the preservation and reuse of many significant historic buildings along the way.
