The Governor General's History Award for Excellence in Community Programming recognizes community-led initiatives that encourage public engagement in Canadian history. Applications are evaluated on their audience reach, impact, and contribution to a greater public understanding of Canada’s history.

Eligible projects include civic engagement activities, exhibits, multimedia, preservation projects, and public programming.

Two recipients will receive $2,500 each, and travel and accommodation for two project representatives to attend an awards ceremony.
