Historic Columbus Façade and Rehabilitation Loans Renewed for Ten Years
The Bradley Turner Foundation has renewed its Program Related Investment in Historic Columbus Foundation for another ten years. The $500,000 fund backs the foundation’s low-interest (2 to 3 percent) Façade and Rehabilitation Loan Program for Columbus, Georgia. Since 2016 the program has made more than 50 loans, recycling the original money three times and generating nearly $1.5 million in neighborhood reinvestment. NeighborWorks Columbus continues as underwriting partner.
Owners of any property more than 50 years old can apply, for anything from a new roof or exterior paint to a full renovation. Historic Columbus notes that older neighborhoods such as Bradley Circle, Waverly Terrace and East Wynnton supply much of the city’s housing for people of modest means, and the loans help families stay in and care for those homes. Façade loan applications are accepted year-round.
