Preservation Action Hosts Successful Historic Preservation Month Briefing
Preservation Action was on Capitol Hill this week to host our annual Historic Preservation Month Congressional Briefing, alongside the House Historic Preservation Caucus. This was a great opportunity to educate congressional staff on key legislative issues impacting historic preservation.
Preservation Action's President, Russ Carnahan kicked things off, followed by a panel discussion featuring Katlyn Cotton with PlaceEconomics, Mike Phillips with the National Trust Community Investment Corporation, Elizabeth Tune with the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, and moderated by Lauren Cohen with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Together the panel discussed the important role historic preservation plays in creating affordable housing, stimulating economic development, and facilitating efficiency while continuing to balance history with progress.
Thank you to everyone that helped make this important briefing possible, including our wonderful panelists for their time and expertise, the co-chairs of the Historic Preservation Caucus, Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) and Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez (D-NM), and their staff for their leadership, and our feature sponsor, Heritage Consulting Group.
