Essex Heritage, the nonprofit that manages the Essex National Heritage Area in Massachusetts, held its Fall Annual Meeting on October 8, 2026 at the Historic New England Center in Haverhill. It elected five new Commissioners for 2026-2029: Carissa Demore of Historic New England, Dan Marshall of the Marblehead Museum, Emily Pearce of The Gloucester Adventure, Anna Richards of Buttonwoods Museum and Valerie Rosenberg of Cider Hill Farm.

Awards went to Lauren McCormack, now executive director of Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area, for her ten years at the Marblehead Museum, including the acquisition and renovation of the Jeremiah Lee Brick Kitchen and Slave Quarters, which opened in July 2026; to the Museum of Old Newbury and the Custom House Maritime Museum for their joint Road to Revolution programming in Newburyport; and to Save the Glover! Inc., whose four-year campaign led a new developer to plan to keep General John Glover’s 1780s farmhouse in Swampscott and Marblehead on its original site.
