O‘ahu Voters Approve Using City Land Fund for Historic Preservation
On November 3, O‘ahu voters approved Honolulu Charter Questions 13 and 14, opening a new source of support for historic places, reports the Historic Hawai‘i Foundation. Question 13 allows the city’s Clean Water and Natural Lands Fund to be used to preserve historic buildings, sites and archaeological resources, and renames it the Land, Natural Resources, and Historic Preservation Fund. Question 14 doubles the share of the fund available to care for the lands it acquires, from 5% to 10% of the money deposited the previous year.
