One of Los Angeles’ most beloved landmarks is set to welcome moviegoers once again. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema have announced plans to restore and reopen the iconic Cinerama Dome and the former ArcLight Hollywood theatres, bringing movies back to the Historic-Cultural Monument for the first time since 2021. The Conservancy is working with the design team to help ensure upgrades are compatible and respect the integrity of the Cinerama Dome. The light-touch restoration approach will preserve the landmark’s distinctive character while preparing it to welcome future generations.
