Property History

Developer H.J. Allen platted the area known as "Belmont Place by the River" in 1913, which included Armour Place. Many homes had been constructed within this area by 1927. The quiet, secluded neighborhood, tucked between the San Antonio River, the interstate, and the Brackenridge Park Golf Course, is characterized by narrow, winding, tree-shaded streets and a distinctive collection of early 20th century residences. The homes include Bungalows, Tudor Revival cottages, minimal traditional houses, and other eclectic styles.

Property Description

Just steps from the San Antonio River, Historic Brackenridge Park, the San Antonio Zoo and the oldest municipal golf course in Texas. Originally a colonial revival structure, in the early 1970's famed Central Texas landscape architect Larry DeMartino purchased the home and made it his laboratory of ideas for the next 50 years. His vanguard professional ideas of public land use and water conservation are reflected in this home. He was committed to better building built environments, land conservation, living with and in nature. In renovating this property over the years, he respected the original building methods and materials, unique site qualities and intrinsic historic value. The 1925 old growth wood studs span the 2.5 stories. Pier and beam foundation. 2600+ sq ft. 4 bed, 2.5 bath main house. Original service structures converted to additional dwellings. Beautiful gardens and all season porch. This property is truly unique.
